The object of the game, determined by the players before the game begins, is to either own the horse that wins the race or have the most money. Starting with 700, each player can buy any of the twelve horses available in the auction. Then the players put their horses on the gameboard to be moved, in turn, according to the rolls of two dice. Here the players can gain advantage and disadvantage cards to be used in the race. Once the players have circumnavigated the track, the gameboard is flipped over to reveal the race track.The players may place their bets on which horse they guess will win the race. After the betting is over the race begins. The players roll one die and move their horses in turn, utilizing the cards earned during the first half of the game whenever it is felt to be advantageous.
